Is your breed file exactly the same size as it was before your started? Also, if you delete null bytes at the very end of the breed file itself, it won't work. You need to remove bytes (not necessarily null bytes, by the way) from the adult .LNZ file inside the breed file (because you're adding stuff to the adult .LNZ file when adding spots.) Oh! And you need to leave at least one space between all the numbers in the [Ballz Info] section, if you're removing bytes there. It's not only null bytes (hex 00) that we can remove. We can also remove some tab spaces (hex 09) and spaces (hex 20). Some stuff looks like spaces or dots in the ASCII part of Hex Workshop, but they don't necessarily contain the same hex data (in the hex side of the program.) Make sure to always look at what you select in the hex side, so that you don't remove things that may be important. Look at the tutorial below, by Sleepycat. It explains how to find the beginning and end of the adult and kitten .LNZ files, and how to make space in the breed file when adding stuff. petzforum.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=hexing&action=display&thread=1077246262That should work!

I would absolutely recommend using Carolyn's External Lnz files for beginning hexers...And, experienced hexers...So simple
I use them to create all my hexies now, and then when I'm done, I paste the lnz's into the breedfiles I want to use...

Well, that is incorrect. Changing a 6 into a 151 adds 2 bytes. Any time you add or remove any digits or letters in a breed file, you will need to compensate by adding or removing the same amount of digits. Hmm....are you sure about that? When you do typeovers, you aren't adding adding bytes- it doesn't matter whether you are changing a 6 to a 5 or a 6 to a 151, as long as there is a space before it that you can type over. I do that all the time, and i never have to remove bytes, since they never change.

If you 'spce out' the info under Add ballz, then that information will no longer be in the breedfile. Since it holds alot of important infomation about ear ballz, cheek ballz, some tongue ballz, and sometimes tail and other things, it you get rid of it these things will not show up on your pet...Also it would mess up your Linez section, since it will still be looking for ballz that are no longer listed in the breedfile.
I find it quite hard to believe that you've done this without getting a radically altered pet.

Yes, I'm sure. 6 has 1 digit, and 151 has 3 digits, therefore you're adding 2 digits (= 2 bytes) to the file, which needs to be compensated for. It's only if what you change has the same amount of digits that you don't need to compensate in breed files. Maybe you're using ResHacker, which messes with the file by itself to compensate for some things (and that's the reason why I don't like ResHacker.)
