I have downloaded the shi-tzu breed file, and discovered that their personality is that of a sheepdog!!! That personality does not match with a little shi-tzu!!! Is there any way to change their personality? Can anyone do it? Any help or adivice would be greatly appreciated!

Sleepycat just posted a tutorial on how to do this yesterday -- that's the post that's right below yours in the board (called: Base Breed Swapping Tutorial.)

If you have reshack you can try swaping the scp part with another breed.
It will not change all the behavior, but it may change some of it.
If you're interested I can paste a message I typed in the PKC how to change the scp.

That'd be cool, Butterfly.
I have a query related to this actually, so I'll post it here rather than start a new thread: Someone asked for a breed swapped pet in the Wanted board, and I had a go, but couldn't make it work. Is it even possible?
I've been thinking about this all day, since my failled attempts, and was wondering if it could be done with a program.
Take Speedwagon Software's UnMuter for petz 5 for example. It goes into the pet file, analyses for coding errors, picks out the part that is clashing and changes it, modifying the Checksum, and fixes the muteness.
Now, the way I have it pegged is: if a program can do that, why not take it a step further, and instead of the program looking for coding errors it looks for the personality code, you get to choose what you want the base personality to be, it codes it and fixes the checksum. I know mixies have more than one personality type, but if you could change the Main personality, ie. the one the UnMuter picks up, it'd be something, huh?
I'm no programmer, but it'd be interesting to think about, wouldn't it?

Jasmine, did you try Sleepycat's technique to base-swap? I haven't tried yet, but getting nervous now... As for such a program, it would be great indeed. I'm sure this could be done. Too bad I gave up on learning more Visual Basic after I wrote only two programs

The thing with SleepyCat's Base Breed swapping is it works on breeds, whereas I'm talking about already adopted/Bred petz... At the moment, I'm trying to work with Carolyn's ChangingBreenameInPetfile.zip, but since I haven't managed to get it to work yet, I don't know if it changes the actual personality

Ooh... sorry, I misread what you wrote I'm a bit sleepy today, I think I can see how that would be a very useful thing to do! Maybe Sleepycat will be able to shed some light on this...

Carolyn assures me that changing the breedfile using her tutorial would change the behaviours of the pet.
Too bad I can only get so far along in her tutorial without the pet corrupting...
*Cries lots*

I've never even thought about doing that with pet files, I only touch the suckers when I have to

I'm no programmer, but it'd be interesting to think about, wouldn't it? Why stop there? Idealy I want to be able to edit the behavior so that I can have new behavior rather than only swaping the existing personalities. Take a saluki for example. Wouldn't it be really cool if I can have it run like one with the double suspension gallop and all. If you want to change the behavior of your pet by the scp swaping I mentioned, do it to your petz breedfile. Chances of corrupting are much less. Want some cheap laughs. Try putting a calico scp in a dalmation. The dog's head will shrink when it's scared. So far that seems to be the only stable cat to dog cross. If you don't mind a rare devide by zero crash with verbassit, try swaping a persion scp in a dog such as the gd. Your pet will ocassionally explode sorta like oddballz hit by the transformer. It will of course reassemble itself and be fine. (that's how I got that creepy bug thingy at the don't hit the camera express show)
