4/22/21 update:
added a new crew member, and a new pillow (which i had to make because the new crew member is very fickle and hated all the default pillows)

5/20/21 update:
added new crew members
all toyz have been updated to have the correct internal color and flavor values (e.g. shark plush is now properly seen as blue by petz, apple cake is now sweet) please redownload as necessary if you want petz to respond accordingly to them!

Is there actually a way to determine if something is sweet or not to Petz? Because that'd be pretty cool xDD

Is there actually a way to determine if something is sweet or not to Petz? Because that'd be pretty cool xDD it's actually pretty simplistic, although it's hard to see without decompiling the files and having some kind of reference to know what you're looking at: every toy (even non-edible toys, since most toys can be chewed on) has a byte that determines "flavor", for example the silver dog food bowl and beef treat have a value of 1, so 1 presumably corresponds to a beef flavor. the cotton candy treats, candy hearts, and popcorn all have a value of 5 for flavor, so presumably this is the "sweet" flavor, and that's what i changed the value to the apple cake to (it was 7 before, which is the cheese flavor value, since the apple cake was based on the cheese) this is my first time doing much messing around with the values, so i don't quite know everything about it, but i am really curious about how petz might react to an edible item if its flavor value is something normally inedible, so i'm thinking of experimenting with that next!

That's pretty cool! I assumed each type of food and treat were considered 'different' since some Petz will eat and not eat certain types of food...and food hexed on those always taste the same to them. (Such as, if you have a pet who won't eat cheese, and you make a piece of cake based on the cheese, the pet still won't eat it, because it's still the cheese to them.) But I didn't think those things could really be changed in this way, and that's pretty interesting! I also didn't know non-edible toys had a flavor value either! Is this value in toys connected at all to what makes Petz favor a certain toy? If so, and if Petz literally have a specific favorite flavor, and prefer their toys/food to be that one flavor, I wonder if it changes what things they favor, if you alter things a bit... That's all so interesting, I just love it!! xD Interesting that the popcorn is grouped with 'sweet' things, since I know most popcorn to be salty, and the one in-game looks like it would be! And now I'm curious to try your apple cake and see if Petz who won't eat cheese, might eat THIS...I wonder if it's the cheese item that they don't want, or the flavor!! --- EDIT: You may know this already...but it seems changing the flavor does not change the mind of those who hate the cheese originally. x'DDD Suzu is not fooled, LOL! Oh well, someone else will eat it then!

toys have quite a few different internal adjectives, so there's probably a few different things that make up petz preferences, but i'd assume the flavor value probably has a lot to do with why finicky petz will turn their nose up at toys even if they're not good, haha
and that's odd, the pet i used to test while i was editing actually hates cheese and likes sweets, and was willing to eat the apple cake after i changed the value.
i'm gonna go make sure i uploaded the right file!

This is super cool that you can do that! If you’re ever interested in making one, it’d be really cool to see a tutorial on how to change the flavor and color of items. I’ll definitely have to download some of the new stuff later.

i'm gonna go make sure i uploaded the right file! Actually, maybe that's it right there! Your cat likes sweets, but maybe Suzu doesn't like them! It's been a while, and I forgot to double-check... PFFT. Okay, picky eater on my end! I'm going to have to test that with someone less picky! Ironically, the character of mine she's based on LOVES sweets, so she's very much not playing her part well, LOL.

The catnip FLAVOR makes them catnipped?? I assumed it was just the toy itself that was programmed to do that! That is epic xDD My new cat thinks they're a HUGE hit xDD

The catnip FLAVOR makes them catnipped?? I assumed it was just the toy itself that was programmed to do that! That is epic xDD not the flavor, although i did give them the catnip flavor for accuracy; the catnip plant has the "drug" adjective, which makes petz catnipped when they eat it. i wanted to see if giving treats the same adjective would cause the same effect, so i replaced the "fattiness" adjective in the treats with the "drug" one, then set the range to be the same as the catnip plant. it worked!
EDIT: actually, it turns out the catnip flavor does have an influence on the catnipped meter as well! lobb made some catnip treats with just the flavor changed, and they still increase it slightly. apparently both the flavor and the "drug" adjective influence it a little.

I'll have to go check how much mine influence the catnip meter. It's weird that the flavour affects it at all because it would have made more sense to just use one or the other (liking giving the catnip plant a "plant" flavour and the "drug" adjective, or using the "catnip" flavour for it all and no "drug" adjective", etc..)
Mine still work like chicken treats other than the flavour, so pets do become fatter and fuller from eating them. I'm just going to give them yours from now on. xD
