So this is a little project I put together for the sake of nostalgia. And it basically tells you a little story about my past, or beginnings, with Petz.
First of all, here's my super nostalgic crew that I've finally pieced together:
These guys are all in P3 only now. Some moved there from P4, two were 'copied' over from P5 (they're not the same Petz though, they just look like them) and more already came from P3. Since P3 is my more natural game, and all these guys (or who they're based off of) were early/first/natural Petz to begin with...they all belong together here.
So, back when I was a kid, I got Petz for the first time. I'm so bad with numbers/dates/ages, that I have absolutely no idea what year I got it. Since I have memories of my first Dogz, and absolutely none of my first Catz...I'm going to assume Dogz 3 was my first game. Catz 3 came shortly after. I'd assume the year was in the late 1990's to early 2000's. My oldest Petz to survive the series of corruptions were adopted in 2003, and I'd already been playing a few years before that.
But anyway...back before those Petz from 2003, Petz tragedy kept striking...again and again. Petz has a problem, I don't know why it does it, or what triggers it, but occasionally .pet files will simply...corrupt. Their data is wiped clean, and they are an empty file...unable to be fixed. Your only 'fix' is IF you backed them up before-hand, you could just use the old copies and hope it doesn't happen again. Back then, I didn't know a lot about computers, and I certainly didn't know Petz would do this.
In large chunks (20+ at a time) my game started to randomly corrupt my Petz when I was a kid. It wiped out my first Petz ever, my favorite mixies, and very...very few survived. In fact, nobody from before 2003 even survived. The ones from 2003 that DID survive...they were lucky, because they WERE there when corruptions were still happening! It just hadn't got them, and I learned how to back them up right about then, and managed to save them. I think I have 4-5 from 2003 altogether. That's how lucky they were. They had a lot of friends and family that didn't even make it.
Regardless, I moved on as best I could, even though I was very upset over the losses. (Hey, I'm very sentimental, and Petz are very lifelike...it was hard.) Eventually I got P4, though I don't remember much of it...I think my P3 and P4 memories kind of meshed together. I got P5, then I played that constantly.
Eventually I didn't use P4 much at all, and was actually convinced to sell the P3 game when I didn't play it as much. (My very first physical copy of P3 is gone forever...I regret that. Like I said, I'm very sentimental.) Over the years though, I joined the Petz Community, learned that P5 Petz were less sought out, so I reinstalled my P4 game.
When I reinstalled Petz 4 after all those years, I got some more 'first' Petz, who are in this graphic. Even more years later, I repurchased Petz 3, and got more 'first' Petz when I started that.
Still years later, I just could not forget about some of my very, very first Petz...from the very first Petz 3 run I ever had. I couldn't remember them all, and some I don't remember all the details on...but I decided to do something I'd felt against all this time. Recreate them!
I always thought it would feel like I was replacing them, and it didn't feel fair. But as I continued to miss them and wish I could see them again, I realized...it would be like bringing a piece of them back. It would be like a memorial to them, and I could enjoy making new memories with them.
In fact, after suggesting the idea to my sister (who had lost Petz of her own, the same way I had) she liked the idea too, and I decided to try and remake her two favorites first.
This was what I did for her:
Pretty close, right?? She lost her Petz, Junior and Lovin, to corruption but still had pictures of them. I'd bred Lovin for her, who was clearly a Chihuahua and Phooey mix. I attempted to rebreed both of them, and I believe after I got close enough, I brexed them to make them more perfect. (At least Junior, I can't recall if I brexed Lovin) Lovin's new copy is a little different, with her eyelids and white front paws, but my sister liked that she wasn't 100% a duplicate. xDD
After seeing what a huge success that was, I had to remake my own.
Anyway I guess I'm getting ahead of myself... Let me just show you the Petz themselves!
---
The Petz you see here are all 'recreations' of the only Petz I can remember from my VERY first P3 game, back when I was a kid! These guys took a while to get just right, and they're all VERY precious to me! When I first played Dogz 3, I recall getting a Dalmatian and a brown Chihuahua from the Adoption Center as my first Petz. The name Chichi made me laugh, so I kept it...I have ABSOLUTELY no idea what the Dalmatian's name was, or even what gender it was. I feel like Polkadot wasn't it, but it was a name I'd have used for a Dalmatian at some point back then, so it wasn't a bad guess. xDD I feel fairly certain Chichi was all brown.
I remember these two for sure, because as a kid I dreamed that the Dalmatian picked up the Chihuahua at the beach and tried to bury her in a giant hole that filled up the whole screen xDD
I only recently remembered Murphy the Persian. Can't recall if he was grey or blue-grey, but blue-grey feels right. I also can't recall if he was an AC pet or bred, but he looked the same as the AC ones regardless. I just have a vague memory of a greyish Persian with white lids, and my mom suggested the name Murphy, the first time I'd ever heard it, and I loved it.
Next...is Cookiedough and Mandie. Oh my gosh. If you knew me back then, and talked about Petz with me, you would have heard about Cookiedough and Mandie! For some reason I fell in love with them, and they were a couple who always (in my opinion xD) gave me the CUTEST puppies! They were low gen Petz...I know Cookiedough was a cream Mutt with one brown ear, and maybe some white on her, but not a lot. I know Mandie was mostly Dalmatian looking, but with a Mutt face. That's ALL I remember about either of them look-wise. So these look pretty good to me! I'm most excited to have them back! <3
Pikachu...I actually rebred him just the other day! I bred a dog with his shape, copied it and brexed the copy to be colored like Pikachu is. (The original dog, still in my P4 game, is brown! xD) I just remember having a cream giant Chihuahua I called Pikachu, and he was my first dog that looked exactly like a Chihuahua, just giant! It amused me so much to have a Chihuahua bigger than all the others back then xD I can't recall if he had any white on him or not.
Creature is actually the one who started this whole thing! I bred her a while back for a challenge MidnightWolf had going on...well, she was a reject for that, but as soon as I saw her...nostalgia hit hard!! I had a dog EXACTLY like her back when I was a kid! A brown, Chi faced dog with Mutt ears! (Dunno about the rest of her traits xD) I was SO excited, and she helped ease me back into the idea of recreating everyone...and here they are!!
And Critter probably has a bit more of a change from his original...Critter from years ago was female! This one is male! But he works anyway because he looks just like her, I think! Critter was a bigger Chihuahua...cream, with one brown ear! (Again, don't recall the rest of the details) So when I saw him, I just had to give him her name!
So yes...these guys were all adopted or bred (and some brexed afterwards) to resemble some of my very first Petz from Petz 3, years and years ago. Seeing them all together like this...after all these years...just wow. It feels surreal!
---
Those last ones were technically throw-backs to my earliest Petz. The next closest in line would actually be these guys! (Well, sort of) Tiki and Gigi are two of my oldest P5 Petz...Gigi being adopted in 2003, Tiki in 2004. They get along, literally, like no other duo I've EVER seen in Petz. They don't fight, even slightly. Every other friends I had have fought at least once...not these two. They are the strongest pair in all my games ever!
I wanted them in my P3 game though, to join the others from this group. So I adopted two first gen Petz and copied their LNZ onto the new P3 Petz (AKA brexed the 1st gens) and there we go. xD I altered their names slightly, since these Petz aren't literally the same. It kind of sucks because these two aren't as bonded as the originals...but oh well. xD They're good place-holders until I can bring the real Tiki and Gigi from P5 to bond with their oldies gang in P3! (When that time comes, I'll just re-hex these two into something more unique!)
But there's a lot of memories with the duo that these guys stand for. They are quite precious to me as well!
---
After realizing the Petz Community preferred anything under P5, I reinstalled P4. Apparently I adopted Natalie, Trouble, Tealer and Teela. (To be honest, I have no memory of adopting Natalie. D: She's just been there...but I remember the other three.) Tealer and Teela's names irk me a little. They're both a play off 'teal', like their eye color, but I don't know why I spelled Teela's name like I did. But whatever. xDD Also, Trouble is named Trouble for a reason. Don't let his adorable looks fool you. My sister had over a bunch of my 1st gen Dachshunds for a playdate once, and he caused a lot of problems for her too, so she can vouch for me that he is indeed nothing but trouble. xDDDD
While I don't remember a lot about Natalie's early life, I adore Sheepdogs so I'm quite fond of her now! Sheepy and Skunker are Natalie and Trouble's daughters! (Pikachu is just bothered by the ball Sheepy is carrying x'DDD) I adore how Skunker looks! xD Sheepy is a bit awkwardly shaped, but she's so adorable somehow!
Tealer and Teela's daughters are Cookie and Windy! I always loved how Cookie turned out! Windy always reminded me of Oddball from 102 Dalmatians, so I loved her too!
Aaand these are some of the Catz I adopted with the above Dogz when I restarted P4! Hopper has a lot of personality, and I remember playing with him quite a lot! I spent a lot of time with Mello too...and Silas...he was an oldie?? I knew I had him a long time but I forgot he went back that far!
---
And finally...more recently, but still a few years ago...I rebought P3 and started with these guys! Like Natalie, I have no memory of adopting Mittens. D: But he came from the same time, so I guess I must have. xDD I've never really bonded with B+W Shorthairs somehow, so I figure I decided to give it a try with him. I guess it didn't work well. xP Note to self, spend more time getting to know Mittens again!
But man, Buster and Mandy...funnily enough, I named Mandy after the other Mandie in one of the earlier pictures above! I thought having a Mandy Mutt around again would be a nice reminder of him. So now I have two reminders of him. xDDD Buster has a great personality, he's one of my favorites! He and Mandy had Moose, who is also epic! Moose has made two buddies that he's always playing with, and I love his coloring so much! The golden muzzle, and matching eyes! <3 Recently I learned that Buster and Mandy have since been bumped down to 'just friends', which is bittersweet to me. I loved them as a couple!
I apparently love Persians, because I had to go get Muffinly! Love how her name turned out, haha!! She wasn't in the mood for pictures at all. xDD
Cheery used to be called Chachu, for some weird reason, and I've hated it ever since. I have no clue why I didn't change it sooner, and I much prefer her new name. xD I don't really remember adopting her...but I THINK I got her with Chilla? I don't remember why I got her, either xDD Just a random spur of the moment thing, I guess, but she's so great!
So is Chilla. I remember in my first run of P3, back as a kid, I had this Persian and Chinchilla Persian who would dance to music all the time, and did crazy dance moves that were later lost/altered in P4! So when I got P3 again...I HAD to get another goofy Chichilla Persian! Chilla is so quirky and wonderful, I love her so much!
And Alleysa...I decided to go with an Alley overwrite for P3, where Alleys didn't have Alley Sickness. I could only locate one OW at the time I was looking, and it included extra colors, which is why Alleysa looks like she does. I have mixed feelings about it. I don't normally like extra colors in a normal breedfile, and I still can't decide if I'm happy with the choice I made, as I'm so partial to regular Alleys...either way, I do think Alleysa is quite pretty, and I've had a lot of fun with her!
---
Okay, so this old lady rambling and strolling down memory lane should probably come to a stop now...
But yeah. I've had a lot of fun going over the memories of my first/earliest Petz from each game, gathering some and recreating others, and bringing them all together into one. It feels like most of my Petz family (that I can remember anyway) has finally come home.
It makes me weirdly happy! xDD I just had to share!
