Apologies if this has been discussed before, but I'm curious what you folks consider the ideal "fatness" of your petz.
I was looking around at showing and posing threads and was interested that the suggested ideal for dogz was 60. Is this what is generally considered a "healthy" target weight, or is it just a number that makes poses look consistently impressive?
When I first starting playing the game (before PetzA existed) I did a lot of treatz training and somehow got worried that this would contribute to sickness or low energy. I got more sparing with treats, and some of my dogz are pretty skinny as a result (0-15). I never thought of this as "unhealthy," but now I'm wondering how others interpret it!
Obviously fatness is what you make of it. There's no in-game correlation game between health and body size, so far as I know. I suppose I'm just sad to think that my super svelte dogz might appear underfed or underloved to outside eyes.

I think the nicest weight for petz to be at is between 50 and 60. Many people think skinny petz look emaciated or too scrawny, and petz over a certain fatness level will start to waddle, the idea there is probably that they're so fat they can't walk normally. So I guess you could say the middle of the fatness slider is the "healthy" target weight. The fatness level has no real health effect, most people just prefer their petz to look a nice, in-between weight.

I show a lot of catz and I generally keep their weight at 50. The fatness level (at least in catz -- I'm not sure about dogz) can actually greatly affect the way their front legs alignment looks. Too skinny and we start seeing a line from the other leg, which is unwanted when showing (particularly visible with certain leg types, like calicos and siamese legs for instance, but others too). I don't have any example to show, as I never do that with my kitties.
It they're too fat, like Arie said, they waddle around, but it doesn't seem to be too much of a problem with the legs alignment. I actually showed one cat at 100 fatness just for fun, as he was going through New Years resolutions and such... He won his SGCh title before losing an ounce, haha SGCh. Omg his call name is Blimp <3 . Yea, at PKC it is important to show the pet at a healthy weight, which is usually between 50-75 depending on the file. If they are too thin, judges can flag the entry. The idea is in real life shows the entrant must look healthy to place well.

For me I usually keep my petz at about between 65 and 75, ideally 70ish. Anything over or under is just way too thin or too big in my eyes. Petz at fatness level 70 or so just appear nicely toned.
Little fun fact: Petz start waddling at level 91+; babies are at about fatness level 50ish by the time they separate from their mothers.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! This is very interesting. I didn't know about the waddling being linked to fatness levels (thanks Arie, RatQueen, and Kel). And, I love Blimp so much.
I'm currently bulking up my Dogz to see how they look to me at heavier weights. Treats everywhere! Well, except for the few waddlers, I now know.
Another question: are certain breeds actually programmed to have metabolisms equivalent to a small sun? I have a Whippet, for example, who seems to burn everything off in seconds flat.

Not sure if there are any dog breeds that can't keep the fat on, but it is a common trait in alley cats.

As someone who just plays with the petz, I noticed recently that a lot of mine are all fatness 0. Except for my chihuahuas that seem to eat like champions. Especially when my mother dogz get pregnant, they get so thin! >>

^ Yeah, for some reason when a pet gives birth, their fatness drops instantly. The longer you play with a pet and have them run around in one go, and don't really feed them/have food out for them, the more their weight drops. If you feed them often, especially if they keep eating while full, or use treats...they get fat easy. xD
As far as I know, I don't think any breeds drop weight faster than others, except for the Alley's auto weight-drop if you pet them.
More on topic, I keep mine around 50-ish. xD
