I am a Computer Science teacher for both middle and high school students (roughly ages 12 to 18). Today I was teaching my students about how Memory (aka RAM) and Storage (aka Hard Drive) work when it comes to running programs and saving files. I decided to explain the difference using one of my laptop applications over the projector in real time. I decided to use Petz 4. TLDR; I used Petz to show kids how a computer works. I was showing them one of my petz and when I exited, the class gasped. Apparently they were concerned I didn't save the game before exiting and thought poor Harley was gone. --- Unrelated story but related to education, I teach HTML and always have a problem finding many images to decorate fake websites to teach the children (we build like 5 or 6 different websites and I don't ever have enough images for them). I could use Petz images and PF Magic even provides a bunch of little graphics we could use on websites. Why did I never think of this before? ? Anyway, PC Question: What sorts of Petz related websites should I make my kids do? Their work will def bring back memories of 15 years ago with their web skillz. EDIT: Class Pet!?!?! That could totally be a thing......!

Class Pet!?!?! That could totally be a thing......! LOL I think the class already voted on Harley. xDDD I'm entirely unhelpful here, but I love these ideas so much!! They would even likely want to try the game themselves, and I bet they'd have a blast with it!

I used Petz to show kids how a computer works. You are the best teacher in the world Although, somewhat unrelated but I think there could've been a class session in where the students play about with Petz on the computers, even for therapeutic reasons. That was an idea I had in my head for a while

^ Petz is definitely good therapy. It cheers me up whenever I'm sad, or stressed out, or even just out of my element. When we were moving to a new house, everything was everywhere and it overwhelmed me and I was struggling to keep from freaking out. Then I saw my laptop, and brought Petz up...and it felt like home and calmed me right back down. xD

^Love that! This is fantastic Thor ! My first computer learning experience, I kid you not, was with Catz II. I also used Petz to teach my daughters, and now granddaughter how to use computers by playing Petz. My oldest daughter even got interested enough to have a web site, (short-lived) and hex a little. Buzzy Bee Petz was her site. Adoption Sites are always good. You have to post images and info. I remember getting Paint Shop Pro, just so I could do this effectively. As well as creating my own layouts, etc...

This is really cool! I love seeing/hearing about teachers using games to teach classes. I've also heard of teachers using Minecraft for some of the same stuff. You can even use redstone to build computers in-game!

You can even use redstone to build computers in-game! I usually like to use obscure games when I teach. Because if I use Minecraft, they all go crazy wanting to talk over me about how much they know about Minecraft. But, if I use an interesting obscure game, they are more likely to stay quiet and listen to me talk about it.

This is a great idea! I would have loved to have Petz related projects when I was in school. I was high school age when I was introduced to Petz through Dogz 2. There are a lot of things about the Petz programs that could be used to show kids what is possible. A lot of young people learned to build websites or got into computer programming because of Petz. It's seems like a simple old program, and yet is deceptively complex in some ways.
Maybe have kids adopt a pet or two, then they can build a website about their pet/s, including pictures, stories and whatnot, even litters if they breed. They could update the site as they play, including little things about what the pet did, it's favorite toy, new tricks it learned, etc. That'd be a cute, easy little project.
Good job introducing Petz to a new generation, some students may just end up getting involved in the PC.

Alright, continuing this thread since I am currently using Petz to teach kids about making websites (because its just so easy to make websites about pets and animals in general).
I'm teaching them how to make tables in HTML, so they are making an adoptions website. One page has a table with all the puppies available; one page has a table for all the kitties available, etc.
I decided to make the last page be for "Other" which would just be bunnies and pigs and maybe other pet hexies (probably nothing too wild). A student saw the "Other" page in the navigation bar and asked "Is other going to be those super weird mods for Petz 4?"
....the 12 year olds know we exist guys.....
(I think V-sauce did a Youtube video about Petz 4 with the weird mods; and I think other famous Youtubers have too so the kids have seen them)

Okay, where are these popular youtuber petz videos and when can I watch them xD Searching on Youtube for Petz 4 results in several videos with thousands of views O.O But this is the one that had the most: www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1nssZBhmPE^ I've watched it before because when I told a friend I was getting back into a game I played as a child called Petz 4, he basically linked me that video and asked if this was the game. I typically don't watch V-Sauce because I find his videos targeting children. If you just search up "Petz" on Youtube, you see the LGR that Catbloo was mentioning and that was has over 100k views! Its about the first games: Dogz, Catz, and Oddballz, so it doesn't show off any of the crazy mods, but its worth watching for history and nostalgia: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eqLzcvVpiM

Kind of off topic, but MAN watching Vinesauce play Petz 4 is frustrating! I just want to yell at him that he's doing it wrong . But for reals, where did he get all these breedfiles??? I haven't seen like any of them....
