Thor (Or anyone really) If you ever need any help with Tarot or want to talk to someone about it hit me up! I promise not to bite. I can suggest books and answer questions(and if I don't have the answer I can admit it too!) I also love hearing other people's interpretation of cards. It's great to get different opinions. I usually shock people when I mention my favorite card being the 3 of swords. Most people seem to see it as a bad card. The only "bad" card in my opinion(which is not the only opinion and can easily be disagreed with) is the Tower. I highly recommend the Biddy Tarot podcast. I haven't checked out the community involved with it itself but I do get her news letter. I know the podcast is on spotify(that's how I listen) and I believe it is also on iTunes. I like it because she doesn't just say "This is how I do it. It is the only way to do it." She says "This is how I do it, but don't do it this way if it isn't right for you." and she brings in guests that have/do Tarot different than herself. For books my personal favorite is the The Tarot Bible, it's a nice size and has more than enough detail without getting to dry. There are also short key words and phrases on each card to make it easier. I rarely read the actual description any more. While writing a paper I discovered The Tarot: History, Symbolism, and Divination by Robert Place which is really nice. I really enjoyed it. I also like the Tarot Nerds FB group. There are some abrasive people but as a whole I find the group helpful.
Kieran @ Fractal - I say "my town" but it really includes like 4 towns closely squished together around the 1 actual city in the valley I live in. It takes approximately 45 min to drive from the furthest east to the furthest west down(outer edges). We do have some amazing things and some not so amazing people. It's a really odd mix, we have a University and generally the people associated with that are pretty cool(there are always a few bad seeds) and then you've got the very conservative people who are the stereotypes. For example I work in a hardware store. I had a guy tell me "It's good for you to work here as a female and learn this stuff from these males." Keep in mind that I was tearing apart cars with my father since I was 2, he was the one who approached me to help him with getting a chain to hang a bird feeder because he didn't know what kind of hook would work, and the only question I asked from my coworkers was where the paper to write down the number for the chain was. I've also had people completely disregard what I say until I call over one of my male coworkers that say the same thing I do. We've also had a customer behind a gay couple who after they left went off on my girlfriend about how "gays are ruining the world". But on the other side of the spectrum we have an active gay community who holds events throughout the year, we have the poetry events, and slowly we are getting more art that isn't pictures of the mountains and cowboys. Which are fine, but sometimes it would be nice to see some dragons. Though the fine arts community has it's issues. My girlfriend helped judge a high school art show, they had different judges for different mediums. There was a photography piece(which was gorgeous!) done in black and white except some red accents of a cross dresser sitting on the hood of a car. The lighting and perspective were fantastic. I asked if they had let teachers exhibit pieces now too or if it was the professional photographers piece since judges got to show a piece. And the three older ladies who judged traditional art threw a fit about the piece because "photography isn't real art," which was said in front of a professional photographer. Wow...that talk got away from me. I ramble too much. Sorry.
commander - Fanfictions totally count! If a Twilight fanfiction can get published (even if I think it is horribly written) then there is no way that fanfiction doesn't count. I've read some absolutely fantastic fanfics(I've read some equally bad ones too). Plus I've had classes where the assignments are basically writing a fanfiction. My favorite was my Romanticism class where we could rewrite the ending of Frankenstein. Plus if you think about it a lot of classics are just fanfictions. Paradise Lost(which I hated reading. It bored me) is just a fanfiction of Genesis.
