Every time my dog poses I hit the spacebar too slow and only catch these two frames: is there any indication that a dog will pose before they actually do? because i can't seem to hold the spacebar down fast enough to catch every frame, and i keep missing the right one. EDIT: ACK he goes into the pose so fast! I can't catch it!

I repeatedly hammer the space bar instead of holding it down - dunno whether that might make a difference? I've also turned auto saving photos off for some dogz and just used timing to capture the right breathing point because it can be easier to see what you're doing when you have the preview window up! Once you've clicked on 'take another photo' in the preview window you can use space bar/enter to take another too because that option remains highlighted
it's probably pigeon superstition but I feel like there's a slight kindof 'stall' in animation before a dog poses that you don't get when they're leaping around or doing headstands

The way I do it is I just hold down the spacebar like all the time. If the dog does something like jump, spook, etc. then I'll stop and let it finish doing that, then hold the spacebar down again and just keep it down until the dog poses or has another reaction. I have to clean out my petzpix folder SO MUCH haha.
But you can also just rapidly hit the spacebar as fast as you can once it starts posing, you might not get the exact moment right away, but at least you'd have a shot. If you're NOT holding the spacebar down basically as soon as the dog starts posing then you're better off just hitting it repeatedly because as you've learned, once it starts you're probably too late for the holding down method.

Thank you both! I managed to get a pose from this dog, but I'll definitely smash the spacebar next time I try for a pose.

You can also use the option of having your photos saved automatically. That way you just hold down the spacebar when they jump into pose and later look through all the pictures that were taken and see if there's a good enough pose that you were able to catch on camera.
Edit: nvm, that is also what Jewellz mentionedxD haha. But that's the method I Always used as well, haha. At the end of the day my petz knew better than to give me wonky posesxD because I'd hunt them with that camera all day long if I had to, haha.

The problem is that when I hold down the spacebar, it starts off really slow and then speeds up after the dog is done posing.
