This new batch of show kitties -- both bred and hexed -- has been chomping at the bits to enter the show ring. So, without further ado, here's my new lineup:
Pebble RKC's Rocking Rebel
| Blackening RKC's Night Vision Goggles
|
Blueprint RKC's Intelligent Design
|
Huitlacoche RKC's My Story As a Corn Kernel
|
Hayneedle RKC's Another Stray Found in a Haystack
|
Beantastic RKC's Recipe for Success
| Slides RKC's Mountain Ridge
|
Bronzer RKC's Excessive Application
|
Some couples produce top notch offspring, making me want to show just about every single kitty born to them! This is the case of my SGCh catz Terabyte and Taboo, who already have 3 SGCh children under their belt! Pebble, who despite his Alley looks has a sunny Tabby disposition, wishes to climb on the podium as well, and who am I to crush his dreams? The black beauty named Blackening was almost adopted out after his birth... Indeed, he was part of a litter I bred specifically as "payment" for a hexie adoption (my SGCh. catz Spherical and Goggles were picked as the parents). He just happened not to be chosen. As I sent his brothers and sisters along to their new home, the more I looked at him, and the less I saw him as "just another black cat". His impressive stature, big paws, white neck fluff and, mostly, the fact that he has his father's and grandfather's black eyes... I suddenly fell in love with him, wondering how in the world I could even have considered giving him away! I started a posing session with him on the spot and his family's talent for showing were quickly apparent. His show name, RKC's Night Vision Goggles, was chosen in honor of his father Goggles. Blueprint & Huitlacoche are siblings and they both have a Chinchilla personality. Their parents (Spherical & Zany) have produced several favorite show catz, one of which being Goggles, father of Blackening. I will have to breed this couple again, as their offspring turns out to be very special. Blueprint's black markings come from my Swiss Mau OW breed's black & white variant. For the curious, "huitlacoche" (pronounced whee-tla-KO-cheh), which is considered a delicacy in Mexican cuisine, is a corn disease that produces a fungus and turns the corn kernels a blackish color, which explains this little black one's show name of RKC's My Story As a Corn Kernel. I found Hayneedle in a heap of folders and sub-folders -- that and her texture earned her the show name of RKC's Another Stray Found in a Haystack. This is a cat I adopted a few years back which the intention of showing her, but pet shows were at a stand-still at the time, so it never happened. Looking at her personality in LNZ Pro, she's supposedly an Alley, but she exhibits many Tabby behaviors from her lineage, such as their playful ways and willingness to pose for almost every photo, which is most welcome for a show cat! I saw visions of a legged pinto bean when I first laid my eyes on this plump Desert Lynx/Honey Bear mixie, so I named him Beantastic. He is such a natural poser that he gave me the perfect show picture on his second try only -- one of the quickest posing session ever! Totally earned his show name of RKC's Recipe for Success. The big kitty named Slides is the sibling of my SGCh. cat Slopes. When they were born, I hesitated a long time as to which of the two I wanted to show because of the similarities between them. They're both large Honey Bear-headed catz with that beautiful curvy Oshie body that I love. Only their colors and patterns differ. Slopes won the coin toss and entered the show ring in August 2017. Now is Slides' time to follow in her brother's footsteps. I loved Bronzer's looks when he was born in 2005 (the big Mau ears are always a big plus in my book), and I would have shown him without a second's hesitation had it not been for the fact that I was already showing a very similar-looking cat at the time, only not quite as pretty as I think this one is (the other one was almost identical, but without the Mau ears). I wished Bronzer had been born first, but I wanted to show a variety of different catz, so I gave up on him. Since nobody will remember the catz I showed back in 2005, no problem bringing this kitty out now! His show name is RKC's Excessive Application The force was apparently with me this past November, as I uncharacteristically won several beautiful hexies! Evergreen MW / RKC's Restless Forest Huntress
|
Cuddles Starfall / RKC's One Cuddle Too Many
| Natura WTN / RKC's Slingshot to Venus
|
I won Evergreen in a hexie raffle! Talk about being lucky! I'm completely crazy about those big tufted ears! She was hexed by midnightwolf . The eye shine is hexed in, so it makes it appear she's not looking at the camera when posing -- no matter, as long as her pupils are even, there's no reason I can't show her off! Her show name is MW / RKC's Restless Forest Huntress. I found this unique little cutie named Cuddles in the non-freebie adoptions, sitting next to her two differently-colored siblings. I didn't have much to offer since I can barely hex, so I had little hope, but I managed to catch StarFragments 's attention suggesting a litter between two of my SGCh catz of her choice. She picked Spherical and Goggles for her litter's parents (that's how Blackening came to be), and I got my little cuddly kitty! For obvious reasons, her now name is Starfall / RKC's One Cuddle Too Many. Natura is a Calaxy cat hexed by Smokey . I was lucky to obtain her from smonikkims after I wrote a spacey application telling the story of how, many years ago when I still lived in Switzerland, I used to gaze at Venus while walking my German Shepherd very early every morning, while it was still dark outside. Ever since, Venus and gazing at the night sky reminds me of my dog back then. Despite being a Calico at heart, she was very willing to pose, and with even eyes, too! However, I was surprised how Natura's tail straighens up like a ruler while posing -- she might have a challenge ahead of her to earn show points, but that's okay, she's worth it! I also had a little guessing game going on prior to this update. Alex@Marvel guessed that I would add 10 new show petz with this Showroom update. While I added 11, she was the closest guess, so she can now receive either a sibling or offspring from any of the new catz of her choice. Congrats! Also, 2 catz have earned their SGCh titles since my last update in November: Bonita and Orchestra.

Toboggan is a "reject" from my Non-Meezing Meezer selective breeding efforts mentioned above (a littermate of Chanarong's mother). I simply couldn't resist showing her, as I adore the curvy Oshie body, and really like her color mix. Chanarong is hopefully the first link in a chain of selective breeding success. My number one goal is to have a Siamese face, and anything BUT a Siamese personality (well, I also don't want a Calico or Oshie personality either -- I'm breeding show catz after all). This kitty fits the bill with his Scottish Fold personality, and the Oshie body and tail are a definite plus. There are other traits I'm looking for (and others I want to avoid), like big beautiful and most desirable Mau ears and no Siamese tail or front legs, but I'm not there yet. Chanarong, as well as his very valuable mother Slidable (who has a Siamese face and Oshie body like her son, but no sign of Siamese personality in her whatsover, not even in her dominant/recessive genome), are the first noticeable steps in my selective breeding. No doubt more from their line will come to the show ring! This redhead is Gâchette's sister, another redheaded alley who earned her SGCh. title as RKC's Redhead Redemption. One of those times when I hesitated showing one or the other, because they looked so similar. Now it's Target's turn and her show name is, of course, RKC's Redhead Redemption 2, what else? Despite his meezer face, this plump little cat named Beanbag, who has a lovely Chinchilla personality, isn't related to any catz in my breeding project. He comes from a "famous" litter my "infamous" cat Hottie gave birth to a while back, soon after she mysteriously disappeared from the forum, abandoning a promising show career in the process, and never to be seen again... (if you're curious, you can read about Hottie and what happened to her in the first few posts below my Showroom's SGCh. Lounge).
Also, 2 dogz and 2 catz have earned their SGCh titles since my last update: Sultan, Cryptic, Genova, and Propaganda.

Anorak, sister to one of my early SGCh catz named Parka, was born years ago and carries some genes from my Desert Bear and Swiss Mau OW breedz. She is yet another case where I had a hard time deciding showing her or her sister, because they looked similar yet different, but I loved them both. Now is her turn, finally! I really like the Lynx texture, it looks like fur, and very different depending on what color shows through. SGCh titles run deep in Tombola's family tree -- from her parents and siblings to her grandmother Yam Yam and beyond -- this one has a lot to prove and the will to do it! She might also be bred in the near future, as I love those big Mau ears on a Honey Bear face. I actually love those big Mau ears on just about any cat face. Tigris was born during a huge breeding spree, in preparation of an adoption thread featuring many dali-eared kitties for the forum. Out of all the catz I put up for adoption that day, this rather simple-looking one caught my eye for some reason. I can usually recognize most body parts on mixies very easily (especially the head!), but the dali ears on this particular cat threw me off -- I'm actually not quite sure which breed his head comes from and, while I think it gives him a look all his own, it's driving me crazy at the same time! Is is a Honey Bear head?? Tabby, maybe? The Persian personality with the slanted eyelids is not helping! I think it's Honey Bear... or Tabby. Or Calico. Damn! Ghostlet was born recently, but comes from two SGCh-titled parents I dug out from the past. Both her parents are tailless, and her mother is also earless (fold ears), so I was indeed expecting tailless kittens in her litter. The curved Oshie body was however a pleasant surprise. I also love that she was born with gray eyes, as well as gray inside her ears, because it goes so well with her Honey Bear fur texture. She reminded me of digital interference on an old TV, where you can still see shapes (ghosts) through, thus her name and show name. And, last but not least, Puppet and Butters are lifelike representations of my real cats! They were hexed by Star -- down to the little white spots and single black finger on my Puppet! Thank you so much, Star, I love them!! Puppet's show name comes from the fact that I often call him Lovey or Dovey because he's a very cuddly and sweet-adorable-best-cat-in-the-universe mama's boy. Butters' show name comes from his obsession with food -- "Food" is his middle name, and if any food is around he WILL find it and voraciously take care of it! Butters is a very unruly cat (and daddy's boy for sure). As evidenced by my awkward-looking pose pictures, these kitties are going to be a challenge, as their body parts are not ideal for shows. There is indeed nothing I can do to prevent that bent on the tail tip, or to align the front legs in a way that wouldn't show a large amount of the other leg's outline either on the left, the right, or both. So, I aimed to at least obtain identical poses for both catz, with the leg alignment dead center (even though it shows some leg outlines on both sides that way), and the tailtip as unbent as possible. I'm quite happy with the result.

Its very fun to read your showing journal. You keep track of all the SGCh and breed them all o: You mention that these catz are old so do you just breed a bunch and then choose to show when you can? I'm just impressed ^^ Very lovely.

^^ No, I usually breed with a purpose in mind, or at least start with some vague idea (and usually because I plan on adding show catz). For instance, I might decide to try for some Siamese face, or Mau ears, or Oshie body, or a mix of features. Since my show catz have become what I'd call "my evergrowing crew" and, as crazy as it it given their numbers, I still remember most of them, with some standing out as strong favorites in my mind (oh, and I do also have a database where I keep track of all their info, with show picture and all), I will pick two of my SGCh-titled catz for their attributes and see what comes out of them. Showing my petz gives them validation, or added value in my eye, and it also helps me remember them. That's why I'm so happy we were able to revive shows!

Elfin is the type of cat I usually avoid showing because of his impossible Siamese front legs! I mean, this really is the best I could do! Cat perfectly aligned dead center, and there is no way to avoid quite a bit of pixels showing on both sides of the legs! (other option was a LOT of pixels on just one side or the other -- my OCD could not deal with it). Even though I can't stand having such imperfect front legs, I was drawn to showing Elfin. I love his delicate frame and small size, and big Mau ears of course! He is sibling with my other show catz Motley and Maushie, as well as Masquerade who is entering the show ring along with him. Cadbury, chief cheeky and chocolaty kitty cat, gets his texture and ears from the Oriental Longhair breed, which I've played with mixing my mixies with a while back. I really like the extra possibilities this breed brings to the table. Masquerade is a kitty that may look like a Calico, but is absolutely not a Calico (he insists). In fact, only his color is Calico-like, but he doesn't have a single Calico bone or part in his body. His bright Scottish Fold personality is only visible in the gaze behind the mask. Masquerade is proud to be part of the underground Anti-Calico Kitty Club, which he derives his show name from. Despite being born sick and flea-ridden as part of a litter of grumpy Alley cats, Zest recovered quickly to let his sunny Tabby personality show through. He’s a master poser (in a good way), never letting his broken tail or uneven ears lower his expectations and winning enthusiasm. If Sparkler hadn't thrown what I see as a perfect pose as soon as I tried to take his litter picture, I'm not sure I would have singled him out to bring him to the show ring. Then I noticed how I really liked his big orange paws, nicely coordinated with his orange eyes and tail tip. Okay Sparkler, you're hired! Let’s get the festivities started! Rainproof, brother to Raincoat and son of Raincheck, is coming from a long line of show catz, many in the gray, blue and dusty tones of the color palette. Those big Mau ears are so pretty on a Honey Bear face (or any other face -- do I say that too much?). The Mau's speckled texture, mixed in with his Spotted Wildcat black spot, make him one fancy and handsome boy for sure. I adopted Cayenne & Cajun from commander 's Breeding Service here on RKC. I selected two P5 mixies from her crew (Khufu and Marlene), which produced a very interesting litter of 10 kittens, among which these two identical twins! (an added bonus of breeding in P5). I immediately fell in love with them and decided to show them side by side as a pair, the same way I had done with my Siamese twins Fattie & Shortie a while back. For me, the key to showing them as a pair is to obtain pose pictures that are as identical as possible. So, while both were fortunately very willing posers despite their Alley personalities, I still had the added challenge of getting identical eyelids because of their Alley personalities. I decided to shoot for wide-open eyes, because the chance of getting identical uneven eyelids are close to zero, so it took us a while. It's only after our long posing session, while I was comparing and picking the most perfect and identical poses, that I realized Cayenne had different feet from Cajun -- larger, and posing flatter. I like that they have a tiny difference to tell them apart, like real identical twins! Hypnotica Starfall/RKC's Mesmerizing Azure Gaze
Hypnotica was hexed by StarFragments , who was/is taking requests as part of her temporary hexing service. I didn't give her a lot of pointers as to what I wanted her to hex, as I enjoy having a surprise, so I only asked for a plump kitty with big ears and paws. The rest was all her imagination and creativity, and I couldn't have been happier with the result! The striking blue eyes were something I wasn't expecting, but was delighted with, and so I decided to select a name and showname that highlighted this unique feature. Since my last update, 3 kitties earned their SGCh title! Congratulations to Hazmat, Dune, and Maushie!

I got into a few breeding sessions mixing my mixies with hexed breedz, just for fun... and ended up with some rather unique and show-worthy kitties! Also, two Ratticatz from the past! Which do you think is the most successful cross-breed?

I got into a few breeding sessions mixing my mixies with hexed breedz, just for fun... and ended up with what I think are some rather unique and show-worthy kitties! Also adding two Ratticatz from the past! Which do you think is the most successful cross-breed? Bespeckle and Snowglobe are both Tiffanie (VPZ) mixies, but by different parents. I didn't know of that breed before, but I now absolutely adore it! It breeds very nicely with the PF Magic breedz, and adds new shapes, textures, and color patterns in a way that doesn't look too weird. I had to admit that I was delighted with the looks of Bespeckle! He's so special! (thus: Bespeckle, And Be Special Too!) For him, I picked a Tiffanie purebred that had only dusty markings, and an all-gray tabby mixie mother from my retired SGCh team. I was not expecting the beautiful markings of different colors, which I love! Snowglobe was fathered by my SGCh cat Chantilly, which I selected because I was hoping for a big round Honey Bear body. The Tiffanie purebred I selected as her mother features gray and cream speckled markings. I like the disproportionate contrast of her little Tiffanie head on top of that round body. I'm definitely going to breed more with this file!
Mandarin is a Peterbald mixie. Since the Peterbald breed, created by Vickie @ VPZ, comes with several different fixed tails not suited for posing, I purposefully bred one with my tailless cat Casualty, hoping for tailess offspring. With the unwanted tail off, Mandarin inherited the Peterbald ears, which I think are so cute on her Maine Coon face, as well as its front legs, body, and skin folds on the shoulders -- and of course, that very unique coat pattern. Stratagem was born to a Bengal (hexed breed by AlinaMau) mixie I adopted from Magica here on RKC. I picked my cream-colored cat Maushie to be the father because I thought the Bengal spots would look nice on cream. I purposefully left my dali-eared B&W OW file in, ready to accept whatever would come out. I love the way it turned out! Twizzler and Mousey are both what I call " Ratticatz" -- they are Fancy Ratz cross-breedz and, despite having several rat-like features, they do have all the necessary body parts to be able to participate in standard catz pose shows. Twizzler is brother to my other show Ratticat named Tangle, whose parents were themselves Ratticatz too, and has the same difficult Fancy Ratz (aka Orange Shorthair) personality. I was forced to pose him using the Love Potion. Mousey is from different parents (his mother is actually a pure bred Fancy Ratz) and, despite his Egyptian Mau personality, which is usually very willing to pose at the drop of a rat, Mousey was being difficult and not very interested. I was however able to pose him without having to resort to other unnatural means. Since my last update, 2 kitties earned their SGCh title! Congratulations to Slides and Raisin!

I found the Tiffanie breed on this page (there are screenshots). I love how they come in different colored patterns. Very interesting to mix with Petz breedz!

Gargantua is the product of two large and plump SGCh. parents, both sporting the Lynx texture, and is very much what I was hoping for with this pairing. I plan on breeding her in the future, to extend this special family of large textured kitties. Rosa was returned to me by Smonikkims, thus her show name: RKC's Returned to Sender. I felt bad for her and love her looks, so I decided to try and pose her despite her Calico personality, which I usually try to avoid. Imagine my surprise when I heard her meow and pose just like a Honey Bear! (This is one of those catz originally born mute, which happens when the personality and sounds don’t match within the pet file). And she posed like a champ, very much unlike a Calico! I was particularly surprised to obtain a perfect leg and tail, despite the Calico body part. Armadillo has the cute pointy face and big ears of the Peterbald hexed breed. His randomly mixed color patches come from the Tiffanie VPZ breed, and his overlaying texture from the Egyptian Mau. I thought he looked odd, with his patterns kind of forming an armadillo-like armor, and I simply had to show him. Despite Garbanzo's Japanese Bobtail legs which, just like Siamese legs, are impossible to pose without unwanted pixels showing one side or the other, I loved him too much to give up on him for this reason alone. This kitty with a shiny Maine Coon personality sports the big tail of the Tiffanie VPZ breed, which I think is quite handsome. I also like how the cream Egyptian Mau texture creates an interesting rippling effect on his cream coat color. Also, 7 catz have earned their SGCh titles since my last update: Blackening, Beantastic, Chanarong, Blueprint, Tombola, Bronzer, and Acacia.

This update is different from my usual and favored fare of very mixed and colorful mixies. I’d even go as far as saying it goes against my grain. I present: The Unicolor Catz Collection! One cat for each of the 10 colors in the Petz Palette! And all their names end in “ess” for no particular reason. I was somehow inspired by Blingless, the all-tan Russian Blue mixie, who is so oddly bland despite the 16 breedz in him. Then I bred another single-colored cat I liked and, with it, the idea for the collection was born, along with even more plain catz. Thanks to all those who voted in the poll to help select the gray and blue contenders! If you did vote in the poll, you can request a random kitten from Lawless and Softness' litter as a token of appreciation! (P5) Since my last update, 3 kitties earned their SGCh title! Congratulations to Elfin, Snowglobe, and Mimosa!

...I'd totally love a kitten from Lawless x Softness. <3That group of Catz look so cool together!! What a neat project! Blingless and Duchess are so cute! And what file gave Spotless those neat blue eyes? That's actually pretty cool. I think we need more breeds that pass those darker blues on! <3 I adore Softness' name! (And show name, but I'm a sucker for plushies, so what can I say? xD) Softness definitely looks like a big plushie!! I also still adore Lawless, and his/her Devon Rex-y look! <3

Oh my gosh! I love the single color petz idea! What a lovely aesthetic for this show team <3 And the -ness names are so fun! (this has got me thinking of doing themes when I add petz to my team! how fun!!)
I actually don't think I have any single colored petz except for a few I naturally raise-- o: I have to find some for your show!! >:3
And I'd love to see kittens from Lawless and Softness. I wonder whether they will all be the same color ;)
