I just tried to register for Whiskerwisks and the process requires me to ask for a quote from Progressive Insurance and to give personal information to Progressive to do so. Is there a way around this? I want nothing to do with Progressive.

Is there a way around this? I want nothing to do with Progressive. That doesn't sound right! It's not supposed to ask for any strictly personal information. You already have a proboards account from being on RKC, so it should be really easy to sign up. Are you 100% sure you went to the correct url (http://whiskerwick.boards.net/)? If I can find the time, I'll see if I can reproduce the same problem.

I just managed to sign up on Whiskerwick with a different email address. The registration is working fine. I have now deleted the extra account. I just thought I'd test it and let you know.

^I noticed you were testing, haha!
I just did the same, signed up with a new email address etc. and I haven't encountered any trouble. All you should have to enter is your email, password, username and display name. So I'm not sure how it ends up asking strange things from you, Azalea. If the problem persist, could you maybe send me a screenshot of where you're signing up?

Arie , yes. XD my 'lunarkittyistesting' username was extremely creative, lol. Same with me, the only spam test requirement was a captcha thing to drag a picture to the centre.

We are currently running a hexing contest for first-time hexers (though you'll have to compete with my amazing entry) and a banner designing contest that could land you your very own skin for the forum. The adoptions forum is being overrun with a whole slew of new litters these days, too. Plenty of things going on to check out.

Starting september 15th, we have a Fall Fair going on! The idea is simple: complete tasks around the forum, collect points, trade in your points for prizes. Some tasks are easy, some are more challenging. You should also be able to do a fair amount without having to go outside your trusty comfort zone, but if you want to complete them all, you'll need to broaden your horizons and try new things!
You must have at least 250 forum posts to officially complete tasks, but even if you have fewer posts, there's still lots for you to get out of the Fair! Many of the tasks involve posting adoptions and opening shows, so there should be plenty of those for newer members to enjoy.
The fall fair will run september 15th - november 15th.
See you there!

Just saying, sounds an awful lot like the PUGS Event that midnightwolf worked for months on for everybody. Same idea of completing goals, some easy some hard, and cashing in the points you get for prizes. Of all the events that could have been planned, doing this right beside MidnightWolf's event at PUGS seems pretty uncool in my opinion.

I think that discredits the amount of work that the moderators of Whiskerwick have put in for this event, as well. You act as if it was just whipped up yesterday. I think that the two events are different enough, the general idea is just that, an idea. Exchanging tasks for prizes is the most basic, yet efficient concept for pretty much all events that can be held in the PC in order to stir up activity, which is a goal in hosting anything at this point in this half-dead community. They don't coexist at the same time. Midnightwolf's event ended months ago, so it's not stealing the wind from his sails, and I know that Whiskerwick's moderators would have never done that on purpose. I think everyone's all in for the same goal: Get the community interested and involved, and improve the liveliness of the PC.

Yes, there are some similarities to the PUGS event. As Mika explained, collecting and cashing in points is just the most effective way to run big events, and it's probably been done before, even before PUGS was a thing. For what it's worth, WW has even had its Prize Box system since long before the PUGS event.
The Fair is in no way meant to be a copy of the PUGS event or steal its thunder. We've made sure to make the tasks very different, registering completed tasks works differently, and so on. We even waited for the event to die down before we started planning when to launch the Fair.
And yeah. Please don't make it sound like this discredits Midnight's work in any way. We didn't lazily copy over amy of his ideas, we worked on this for months.
I don't see why both sites in an already small and dwindling community have to clash and I most definitely don't want anything like that to happen. So... no hard feelings, I hope.

I can vouch for the fact that Whiskerwick has always had a 'win points in events and cash them in for prizes' thing going on. It's the very same prizebox. I understand though that just from the little description it does look a lot like the PUGS event, especially if you aren't a member and can't look into it! However the quests themselves are so different. PUGS's quests were to get people back INTO the game and start creating! WW's quests are to get people OUT of the game and onto the forums! Even in the short time I've been a member of the PC I've watched it dwindle and it's sad. I'm grateful for all activity boosters and everyone who puts work into them tbh.

Big changes are coming to Whiskerwick's economy! Inflation has been an issue for a long time now and Pinto and I think it's time to restart the economy. Because whatever we decide to do will affect every single member, we've opened a poll where everyone can vote on the proposed course of action. whiskerwick.boards.net/thread/4119/whiskerwick-economyEven if you haven't been on WW in a while, please stop by to get updated on what's going on and cast your vote! We want to make sure no one is left out of this important decision.

The poll will close on May 18th, so make sure to stop by and vote while you still can!
