This is an older poll but I'm curious to know what people will say now. I honestly try to not inbreed. But sometimes, when looking through a petz family tree, I get so annoyed because somewhere way up there, they have the same relative.
So what do people consider inbreeding? A pet recently bred with it's sibling? Or can it be "bred out" like if 10 generations up there was a little inbreeding. Some of mine seem barely related but I try top stay away from it. When adopting a pet I don't really mind...

Inbreeding doesn't bother me in the least. It only did when I was a kid because the thought of a brother and sister or mom and son having pups was gross. Now I realize that the only species in our world who frowns on inbreeding is humans because there is so much thought and scientific information put behind it. And even then, humans probably wouldn't be where we are today if not for inbreeding. So I don't really see an issue especially in something as simple as a child's game.

I don't do it intentionally but i must admit I don't check either. Sometimes I don't play petz for months and when I get back to the game I just pick a few cuties to breed, and chances are they are inbred then. I don't care if they are and since I don't check the pedigree, ignorance is bliss

I try to avoid it with my purebreds, although for some of them, I've adopted inbred petz from others and added them into my lines because they have good genes or I just like the pet. I'm more likely to adopt a non-inbred purebred than an inbred one, though. When breeding mixies, I try also try to avoid breeding close relatives, but I don't give a fig either way when adopting, so pretty much all of my mixies have inbred lineage (and I have no inbred-free preference with mixies, unlike with purebreds).
