If taking a picture of your crotch and posting it on DA is art... then hexing is right up there with the Mona Lisa. XD You what now? People do this? I despair at humanity. D: well, if it's like photography...xD

I'm not even talking about artistic nudity.. I'm talking some chick alone with a camera. I'm about to put the filter on DA -_-; Bleh.. I suppose someone may find girl parts artistic but I guess I'm not one of them.

Sometimes, if like you said they are worked on, then yeah, its art. If it's just a simple color/size change then.....meh.....

It's not me, but I'm wondering if it might be a person that is artistic (professional, recreational, painting, sketching, drawing, more traditional mediums, whatever) that views drawing/painting on a canvas as a art and therefore technology and numbers don't seem as artistic to them. Just an idea I had, haha.
I don't know where I stand. Hexing has artistic qualities, but I don't know what I think past that.
But actually, those crotch photos are reported on DA. I've seen some new photos that aren't even trying to be artistic and people almost immediately catch them, comment that they're being reported, and eventually removed.

I'm still hesitant to vote on this poll, even though I mentioned before I did think it is art. I mean, I personally think there's the problem of general pc ~likes~. Call me cynical, but the general consensus is oldschool-like danes are popular right? Make me hex one. In no way is that art (if I hex it) as the general 'theme' is all the same. It's like 100 people copying a pattern they saw, and all calling it art. This isn't really a fair comparasis because everyone's hexies are different, but I do like to see a little creativity.

Most definitely. To make a good hex takes hours, precision, and revision. All of which a true artist needs as well.

You thought about it... Got excited about it...took up to hours working on it...was proud of it...what the heck is art if that isn't?!?!?
Ok...I'm done:)

I believe that art requires talent and creativity. So for hexies, I believe that they CAN be art. I dont believe mine are... yet.
As for other mediums such as colouring books/pages... no, not art. They sort of require talent. I am a good colourer, and I enjoy it a lot. But it is essentially not my work (drawn by someone else) and it takes NO creativity.
I honestly did not want to post on this thread because I know that people can have very different opinions about art. My fiancée and his sister had a horrible discussion/fight about art one day.
Mostly what I am trying to say, is that everyone can have an opinion, as long as they are respectful of other peoples as well.

I know nothing about hexing whatsoever but saying it isn't 'art' is like saying songs made from computers and not actual instruments isn't music. There is a level of skill and creativity involved with hexing so in my opinion it must be art.
